Dave Matthews Band
http://www.dmband.com/sights/sights_main.asp?album=2
He wakes up in the morning
Does his teeth bite to eat and he's rolling
Never changes a thing
The week ends the week begins
She thinks, we look at each other
Wondering what the other is thinking
But we never say a thing
These crimes between us grow deeper
Goes to visit his mommy
She feeds him well his concerns
He forgets them
And remembers being small
Playing under the table and dreaming
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Driving in on this highway
All these cars and upon the sidewalk
People in every direction
No words exchanged
No time to exchange
And all the little ants are marching
Red and black antennas waving
They all do it the same
They all do it the same way
Candyman tempting the thoughts of a
Sweet tooth tortured by the weight loss
Program cutting the corners
Loose end, loose end, cut, cut
On the fence, could not to offend
Cut, cut, cut, cut
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die

The Smiths
http://www.askmeaskmeaskme.com/
About The Smiths
This intention of this web site is to give some basic information about the greatest band of the 1980's, The Smiths. The Smiths are, or were, Mike Joyce, Johnny Marr, Steven Morrissey and Andy Rourke. In an intense 5 years Between 1983 and 1987 The Smiths released almost 20 singles and 7 albums, and are recognised by the critics as one of the most significant bands of the 1980's. It is difficult to believe that Morrissey has been a solo artist longer than 2 lifetimes of The Smiths, but his impact on the music industry declined significantly after 1987.

The Two-Bodied Guitar
I'm sure you guys have seen and heard of two-headed guitars that the likes of Cheap Trick and Def Leppard used. I came across this one in Gizmodo.
I was wondering how the two-bodied guitar would sound like. You can
download Glenn Branca's (the guy who invented and plays the
contraption, I think) music here.
All I can say is that listening to the first few tracks upgraded my
mild headache to a splitting one. But I'm keeping an open mind...

Back from the Living...
I'm back!
I guess Smeagolito's chanting "leave now and never come back..." doesn't work on me.
Now what did I do this past week... I watched Amityville Horror (2005) and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith on the big screen. I thought the remake of Amityville Horror was scary but I guess I don't get scared as easily I did when I was younger. Episode III wasn't at all bad but I was disappointed. I think I expected too much from George Lucas...
Had a DVD marathon at home... lemme see... The Final Cut (I think Mira Sorvino looked pretty in this one), Equilibrium ('Gun Kata' might have really interesting possibilities), Lemony Snicket's A Series on Unfortunate Events (very amusing, good storytelling), Panic Room (No brain power required), and The Complete 2nd and 3rd Season of Smallville.
I did take bathroom breaks and I slept when my eyes hurt from watching.
And now back to our regular programming...

A Bad Sort of Good Day...
I get to go home tonight and I'm finally getting some real sleep. I get to take home and play with this neat toy a bit. I guess I should be happy, even for a little bit.
Even if the nightmare's not over yet. *sigh*

Capricorns are doomed!!!
Well, not really... Courtesy of KV's blog, we found it here.
Aries and Capricorn
(March 21 - April 19)
Capricorn
will be attracted to the vitality and strength of character that they
detect in the energetic Aries, and the Arian warmth also appeals
greatly to them.
However, they will find that the time Capricorn
gives to their ambitions could cause the uncharacteristic behaviour in
Aries of jealousy, which they are not prepared for. Aries feels there
is more to life than work and will let their feelings be known quickly.
Capricorn
is conservative and Aries may be too impulsive; Aries will take risks
and enjoy them while the same risks will make practical Capricorn
quake. Some violent quarrels may happen due to this and the many other
personality conflicts. Aries will not like the pessimistic gloom that
Capricorns use to dampen the Arians enthusiasms.
This pair would need to work around the weakness and use the strengths of each sign to make this match succeed.
Taurus and Capricorn
(April 20 - May 20)
These
two signs have a natural empathy between them, and as a result are able
to understand each others feelings, emotions and sense of humour.
Capricorn is a good match for Taurus, as they both have straightforward
and uncomplicated passions. They share the same goals and both need to
have stability in their home life enabling them to feel secure and
loved.
Capricorn is secretive, and does not always have the
ability to express themselves well, but all the same Capricorn's
loyalty makes Taurus feel secure.
Capricorn is a quiet sort of
person, making them a good companion for home loving Taurus, and if
satisfaction is experienced in the domestic area these two could be
inseparable and be a match made in heaven.
Gemini and Capricorn
(May 21 to June 21)
Gemini
and Capricorn must work hard to ensure that their energies are geared
toward the same purposes, for their individual approaches are as
different as chalk and cheese.
Capricorn is down-to-earth and
quiet, whilst Gemini is more of an extrovert. Capricorn is stubborn,
whilst Gemini is flexible. Capricorn worries about security, whilst
Gemini frets about losing its freedom. Capricorn is happy with order
and routine, something that drives Gemini to distraction. Capricorn is
thrifty and thinks of saving for the future while Gemini lives, and
spends for the moment. These basic differences must be discussed as it
will take more than love to overcome them.
Gemini's need for a
stimulating existence does nothing to make Capricorn feel secure. And
Capricorn's calm outlook of life puts a damper on Gemini's high
spirits. This partnership will be a lot of hard work – not a match made
in heaven.
Cancer and Capricorn
(June 22 - July 22)
Opposites in the Zodiac, these two signs can make a winning combination if they can overcome their opposites in temperament.
Capricorn
is likely to be involved in a career which will take up most of their
time and attention. Cancer must accept all the time that is devoted to
this career, as Capricorn will naturally expect it. Cancer demands a
lot of attention, and may become moody if they do not get it. However,
this will probably not be noticed by Capricorn as they are too busy
with their work.
Since Capricorn is so wrapped up in their own
affairs, Cancer will come to regard them as boring. In turn, Capricorn
feels that Cancer should put some of their sensitive, emotional
instincts to work in their own career, thus making Cancer less
dependent on them, emotionally as well as financially.
This
relationship has a strong foundation based on material and emotional
security. Both Signs are loyal and cautious, and they are both good
with money and are unlikely to have many financial problems.
This partnership succeeds due to commitment and a stable, traditional home environment.
Leo and Capricorn
(July 23 - August 22)
These
two signs are worlds apart in the area of everyday life. Leo loves
clothes, the very best of everything, and is always in search of the
status symbols of life. Capricorn just doesn’t care about these things
as the simple life is more attractive, and saving for the future is
imperative with this sign.
Capricorn has times when they just
want to be alone, especially when they feel under too much pressure, or
the arguments get too intense, which leaves Leo trying to understand
what they’ve done. A few occasions like this could wreck the nerves of
highly strung Leo. Capricorn will hardly ever see the brighter side of
life while Leo is an optimist, this could keep them at loggerheads over
the most minor things.
Both are highly sexed, but with basic
differences. Leo needs glamour in love making and Capricorn can't
supply it, being straightlaced and serious. Leo will think Capricorn
miserly with affection because Capricorn's reserved, undemonstrative
nature cannot give Leo the adoration it needs. Not a great match.
Virgo and Capricorn
(August 23 - September 22)
A
harmonious pair. This relationship has a strong foundation which is
based on material security and a realistic approach to life in general.
Neither Sign is ruled by their emotions or impulses and both are
dependable and conservative. Capricorn's ambition and drive for success
meshes well with Virgo's perfectionism and energy. Both are diligent,
disciplined, and have a sense of purpose.
Virgo can help
Capricorn to relax a little and appreciate all they have worked to
achieve. Capricorn can help Virgo attain goals and makes dreams a
reality. They admire one another and take great pride in pleasing each
other. Both need respect and approval, and each intuitively gives the
other exactly that.
These two earth signs usually surround
themselves with tasteful and discriminating possessions. They would
rather hold out for perfection than settle for something that was
merely adequate. Along with their longing to be financially secure,
their love of fine things spurs this couple to put in long hours and a
great deal of energy toward fulfilling dreams and obtaining end results.
A highly successful match.
Libra and Capricorn
(September 23 - October 22)
When
Libra and Capricorn meet, the success of their relationship depends on
their ability to agree on similar interests. Libra is extroverted and
derives satisfaction from public interaction, whereas Capricorn is more
calculated, steering clear of distractions while moving steadily toward
a set goal.
Libra needs flattery and attention, and expects love
to be vocalised, needing many avowals from their partner in order to
believe it. Capricorn keeps its affections buried, and eventually Libra
will accuse them of being unfeeling and insensitive, and not really
being in love.
Capricorn is almost fanatical in their handling
of the finances, saving and planning for the future, denying themselves
pleasures for the sake of attaining a bigger bank balance which
represents security to them. The relaxed attitude of Libra cannot
understand this aspect of Capricorn, much less abide by their financial
rules.
Sentimental, dreamy Libra won't get much understanding
from realistic, materialistic Capricorn. And Libra's lazy, easygoing
ways will offend Capricorn, who believes in hard work and success at
any price. Libra is fond of socializing and night life, while Capricorn
tends to be a loner, comfortable with only a chosen few. Not a match
made in heaven.
Scorpio and Capricorn
(October 23 - November 21)
When
Scorpio and Capricorn get together, they can help each other to grow as
individuals and to discover the value of a loving relationship. It
takes a long time for these two to open up to one another and feel at
ease with each other. However, once they have learned to trust and care
for the other person, this relationship will be secure and strong.
All
of Scorpio's strong passions are welcomed by Capricorn. Scorpio's
volatile emotions tend to open up brooding, inner directed Capricorn.
Capricorn even enjoys Scorpio's jealousy, as it makes them feel secure.
Both
Signs share a love of committing to a task - they are determined,
strong minded and responsible. The best aspect of this relationship is
their determination to shared ideas and their strong devotion to one
another, and this can make for a successful partnership.
Sagittarius and Capricorn
(November 22 - December 21)
Capricorn's
demands can't be met by Sagittarius's flighty, carefree approach to
love. Both have high aims in life but their approaches are totally
different. Sagittarius's blunt outspoken nature is sure to aggravate
Capricorn's sensibilities. Capricorn is a loner, known for its bleak
outlook. Sagittarius is adventurous, sociable, expansive.
Sagittarius,
who often has trouble with their finances, will be very impressed by
Capricorn’s sensible approach to this matter. In contrast, Capricorn
may find that the optimistic, carefree behaviour of Sagittarius will
take their mind off their worries and give them a chance to relax and
enjoy life. However, these very things they admired in one another may
be the things that will cause the most trouble between them.
Sagittarius' weakness for spending money frivolously will give
Capricorn many headaches.
Sagittarius’ carefree outlook on life will
conflict with Capricorn’s solid, serious, and reserved way of thinking.
Not a match made in heaven.
Capricorn and Capricorn
(December 22 - January 19)
This
pair shares the same traits and unless their birthcharts are aspected
right they will not be able to get along together for any length of
time. Because their emotional natures and attitudes are so similar,
they understand one another very well, but also share and reinforce
each other’s bad habits.
Each takes life seriously; sharing the
same attitude on financial matters and careers. Financial matters
should not be a problem for them as they are both forward looking
individuals. Work will be the single most important part in either ones
life and it is best if they work together or have careers that
compliment the other ones. Their career gives them a sense of security,
and they can easily become too immersed in work-related
responsibilities, neglecting their home life and their own needs for
relaxation, play, and sustaining close emotional ties with others.
Neither
of them can easily show their feelings of vulnerability, neediness, or
sentimentality, making them seem emotionally distant and inaccessible.
They may feel judged and criticised by the other, and this is not a
very successful match.
Aquarius and Capricorn
(January 20 - February 18)
Both
signs have a strong sense of self, but Aquarius wants to be free and
Capricorn wants to control. Aquarius has a great many opinions about
everything and welcomes neither advice nor orders from inflexible
Capricorn.
Aquarius is forever on the go and likes to spend
money, which Capricorn considers frivolous, and so consequently tries
to impose strict controls. Capricorn is careful, solid, and
uncomplicated, and doesn't understand Aquarius's adventurous ideas.
Initially,
the depressions of Capricorn will bring out the best in Aquarius as
they try to help Capricorn through them - looking at the depressions as
a challenge. But Aquarius hates wasting effort, and it soon becomes
obvious that all the efforts to cure Capricorn's depressions are
wasted, so they will take their sympathy to a more receptive audience.
Not a great match.
Pisces and Capricorn
(February 19 - March 20)
They
admire each other: Capricorn likes Pisces’ kind nature, and Pisces
appreciates Capricorn's quick mind and persistence. Capricorn does not
easily verbalize its deep feelings, but Pisces intuitively recognizes
Capricorn's loyalty and passion.
Pisces is attracted to
Capricorn’s effectiveness in organizing their life and hopes to get
their own arranged in the same way. Capricorn may be drawn by Pisces’
air of helplessness but soon finds out that at times Pisces is quite
capable of gathering the strength needed to resist Capricorn’s attempt
at domination.
However, Capricorn's strong, dominant personality
is just what Pisces usually needs. Pisces feels secure with practical,
determined Capricorn who can take charge and make decisions. In return,
Pisces brings romance and idealism to Capricorn's serious approach to
life, and Pisces's lavishness with praise and affection delights
Capricorn. All in all, a good match.

Apparently, they're a humor and entertainment publication in Ohio. Are you up for something that tastes like chicken?

Dunno if she's related to Bruce Campbell (of Evil Dead fame) but I came across her site and she does some really neat illustrations.

I thought this was a really cool project when I heard of it. I still
think it's really cool. I have sent six entries all in July of 2004 and
I haven't really followed-up. I found the method of submission and the
limitation of image size such a hassle.
But then who knows? I might just change my mind...

The Recipe for Life
Description:
In one corner of the Solar System, life abounds. From the frozen lakes in
Antarctica to the boiling ocean-floor springs of the Pacific, planet Earth is
teeming with life. But these diverse locations all share some common
ground. They all contain the essential ingredients needed to create life.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/space/life/beginnings/index.shtml
Ingredients:
1) Liquid water
2) Chemical building blocks like carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen
3) An energy source
Directions:
1) Liquid water
Biologists studying primitive organisms all agree on one thing. Liquid water
is absolutely essential for life to evolve and survive. The search for life on
other worlds is a search for places where water can exist in liquid form. But
why is water so precious?
* For life to evolve, simple chemicals must combine to form more
complex ones. Many chemicals dissolve in water allowing them to mix
together and react
* Liquid water is the right temperature for chemical reactions to happen
* Many chemicals have parts which are attracted to water and parts
which are repelled by it. These forces also help reactions happen
2) Chemical building blocks
Carbon
Carbon is important because of its ability to form long chain-like molecules.
Carbon chains form the backbone of organic molecules.
Hydrogen and oxygen
Hydrogen and oxygen can both bond with carbon in lots of different ways.
These two elements make up water molecules. So if water is present,
hydrogen and oxygen will already be there.
Nitrogen
Like hydrogen and oxygen, nitrogen can also combine with carbon in lots
of different ways. Large molecules made from carbon, hydrogen, oxygen
and nitrogen also tend to be very stable.
Other elements
Sulphur, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium,
manganese, iron, cobalt, copper and zinc are all needed for life as we
know it on Earth.
3) An energy source
All chemical reactions need an energy source to drive them.
On Earth, most primitive animals and plants get their energy by absorbing
ultra-violet light from the Sun. This is called 'photosynthesis'.
Humans and other animals get their energy by eating plants, or other
animals. So all animals ultimately rely on energy from the Sun to live.
Stage 2: combining these ingredients to make life
Life finds a way
Until recently, it was thought that life couldn't exist anywhere that was
shaded from the Sun's light. However, scientists have recently discovered
organisms living deep beneath the ocean. These organisms absorb energy
directly from chemicals in the water around them.
Three moons in our Solar System (Europa, Callisto and Titan) may all
harbor deep underground oceans. Could they also harbour extraterrestrial
life?

Weekend television...
Got to watch some TV during the weekend. I'm one very TV-deprived kid.
I was over at my grandmother's on Monday evening and I got to watch "Extra Challenge"
with the cousins. Jaya, some comedienne named Gladys, and Aiza Seguerra
were playing a "chambermaid" challenge in some hotel. Funny. Guest host
Angel Locsin had to dive in a pool, where four ladies with their
hands and ankles tied up, and she had to untie them. After she unties
all four ladies, she has to face Ethel Booba with a head full of gummy
worms (a'la Darna's Valentina only she's called "Bulatina." Hahaha) and
she has to eat all the gummy worms from Ethel's head. Angel was taking
too much time eating the worms so the other four ladies help her out.
All five of them in their bikini's eating gummy worms from Ethel
Booba's head. Yummy.
Got to see an episode of Darna and Enkantadia. I'd have to hand it to local TV for trying. Story runs kind of slow (which I think is the point for telelseryes) but production design is great. Good costume design. Enkantadia billboard courtesy of Jake's blog.
Halata bang isang channel lang pinapanood sa mga lola ko? I think they
channel-surf din naman. Nagkataon lang siguro na nung nandun ako, they
didn't switch channels.

I honestly think this would look really, really good on my blank white

sure looks good as an objet d'art. From cultivate.
